Windows

Double Glaze VS Triple Glazed windows

The most common types of windows are double glazed and triple glazed when upgrading from single glazing.

Double glazed windows are cheaper and easier to install than triple-glazed ones since only two pieces of glass need to be installed. Triple glazing is more energy-efficient, but double-glazing is adequate for most residential purposes. double glazed windows are often cheaper than triple glazed windows but they do not insulate as well. Triple glazed windows are more expensive but they are more energy-efficient and will save you money in the long run. Note that every project varies and glazing is decided based on individual project needs. Double-glazed windows are those with two sheets of glass that are separated by an air space. The air space is usually filled with a wholesome gas like argon or krypton, which is inert and doesn't react to the other materials in the window.

The main benefit of triple-glazed windows is that they contain two layers of air between panes of glass, which means they are more insulating than double-glazed windows. This increased insulation can translate into lower energy bills for homeowners since less heat will escape. Triple-glazed windows are also heavier and more durable than double-glazed windows which could make them a good investment. Triple-glazed windows have three sheets of glass with an air space in between each sheet. For this reason, triple glazing windows are more energy-efficient than double glazing windows.

In short, triple-glazed windows are more energy-efficient than double glazed and offer more protection against noise and increased home security. They also help protect against cold air during winter and hot air during the summer months. The only downside is that they may be more expensive than double glazing when installed. From an energy efficiency perspective, triple glazed windows are better than double glazed windows. You should invest in triple glazed windows if all these things are important to you as they offer the best insulation and would save me money on my heating bill.

How do I clean/care for my windows?

Windows are often neglected in household upkeep. It is important to take care of the windows, as they can make your rooms appear bigger and brighter. If you don't regularly clean them, dirt and grime will build upon them giving them a dirty appearance. Dirt also has the potential to cause scratches on the surface which will weaken it over time. It is important to clean your windows for both aesthetic reasons and for health reasons. A clean window provides a clear view outside, which means you can see outside without any obstruction of the window panes. The window glass also reflects sunlight, so it helps to keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. Cleaning windows can be time-consuming but it is necessary to prevent any build-up of dirt on the surface that can cause visibility problems or affect heat insulation.

It is important to clean your windows regularly as it has a positive effect on your indoor air quality and reduces the risk of respiratory diseases. You should have your windows cleaned at least twice a year in order to keep them looking their best and clean. If you think that hiring a window washing service is expensive or you're not keen on letting someone else touch your property, then it's time to get your hands dirty and give your windows a good clean yourself. Below are some tips on how to clean and maintain your windows:

  • If you are cleaning outside windows, it is best to start with a ladder or step stool. This will allow you to get up close to the window for a full view of what needs to be done.
  • Start by cleaning any leaves or wrappers that may be stuck on the window.
  • For inside windows, use newspaper or a microfibre cloth when wiping down surfaces so as not to scratch them with cloths or paper towels which may leave fibers behind.
  • You should start by removing any dust, grime, or other debris from the window frame before cleaning the glass. This will help you avoid getting any dirt or oils on the surface of the window while you are cleaning it.
  • Once you have done this, use a solution of water and vinegar mixed together to clean the glass. This will not only make your window sparkle but will also help remove any soap residue that might be left behind for a streak-free finish. Use a solution of 10 parts water to one part vinegar for a great result.
  • Use a branded window cleaner to clean the outside of the window. Make sure that you use a squeegee on the outside of the window after you have cleaned it with Windex so that you can remove any excess water that is left behind.
  • You should apply liquid or gel non-ammonia cleaner to a wet cloth and wipe down the inside of the window for around 10 minutes for a streak-free finish.
  • If you want to make sure that your windows last a long time, then you will need to give them some TLC from time to time.

Here are some tips on how you can look after your windows so they don’t get damaged or break:

  • Open and close windows slowly so that they don’t break too easily.
  • Replacing the seals on the frames to prevent leaking and drafts. You may also want to install window treatments like curtains or blinds for added protection against weather elements and privacy.
  • Don’t ignore cracks. If you see small cracks in the glass of your window, get it repaired immediately, as it will only spread and compromise the strength and functionality of the window

Composite doors are a type of door that not only provides protection from the elements, but also from burglars. They offer an extremely high level of security and offer a greater level of protection than metal or uPVC. The doors are durable and have a beautiful design that consists of two layers – the outer layer is made of polyurethane (PU) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and the inner layer is made of polyester fibres. A composite door consists of various materials that may be combined to improve the properties of each material, such as improved insulation, reduced noise transmission, lower weight, etc. Composite doors are built in two ways: pre-fabricated panels that are assembled on site or custom-built components that are assembled off-site and then installed on-site. Next, these doors are reinforced with steel and aluminium which ensures that they will not flex or warp when slammed as well as being very strong.

Finally, composite doors have a surface that is made of several layers of thermoplastic polyester and styrene. This combination provides a surface that is scratch resistant and very tough against vandalism. When compared to other door designs, composite doors look more attractive. What to consider when buying doors

Purchasing a door is not a decision to take lightly. Doors are an important part of a building's design and security. They need to be durable, secure, and aesthetically pleasing. There are many types of doors available in the market, but not all of them would fit your needs. If you're thinking about buying a door for your house, then there are some things that you need to consider before making the purchase:

Style - The first thing you should consider when choosing a door is style. You have French doors, sliding doors, and even sliding patio doors. They come in all sorts of different styles as well, from traditional to modern. You can also get them in many different colours and materials. The type of door is the first thing to take into consideration. Doors can be single or double doors, or even sliding doors. If your house is shallow and doesn't have a lot of space in front of it, then single doors are best as they are easier to get in and out of. If you live in an old home where floors don’t slope too much or if you have a large porch outside your front door then double doors would be best as they will allow for more air circulation and light to come through than a single door. The other thing to take into account is the colour of the door and the style that suits best your property’s exterior.

Size- you should think about the size of the door and how it will work with the outside of your home.

Installation - The other thing to consider is installation. If you need help installing your door, make sure to use a reliable supplier who offers installation, like K and K Windows, who knows what they are doing and offers great aftercare service or it could ruin your new door!

Cost- Buying a door can be an expensive decision so it is important that buyers know what they want before making their purchase. Before deciding on material or style, go over your budget and determine what type of material or style best fits within it while also meeting your other needs for security and insulation.

Material - When buying doors, the most important thing to consider is the material. Not only does it need to look good, but it also needs to be durable and reliable. S You should consider which one looks best in your home or space before making a final decision.

Security - It’s also important that you consider how secure your door is. Your home is your castle and keeping your castle is safe and secure is a priority when picking your windows and doors. Security is also one of our main considerations here at K and K Windows and we strive to offer the best quality and highest standard of products. Our collection of doors are not only aesthetically pleasing but also offers the highest security standards.

Door Locks- At K and K Windows, we believe that the lock is as essential as the door and for that reason, we use the highest security Ultion locking systems in all our doors as standard. Why do we think Ultion locks are the best?

  • When Ultion detects an attack it activates Lockdown Mode. A hidden firing pin in Ultion’s core secures the central cam and stops the intruder from being able to open the door.
  • As well as achieving the highest Kitemark star rating, Ultion is tested by locksmiths with the Master Locksmith Association and is accredited with their highest standard. Sold Secure Diamond.

  • 20-point drill protection means that both ends of every Ultion lock feature 20 hardened steel pins and plates each one positioned precisely to protect your lock from a drill attack.
Sliding doors VS Bi-fold doors

There are several points to consider when deciding between sliding or bi-fold doors. Both serve a similar purpose but have different aspects, meaning one will suit you better depending on your wants and needs.

The first thing to consider is the size and shape of the space in which you want the door to be installed. Bi-fold doors require more installation space than sliding doors and are mounted from the inside. They need more time to open and close as well, which means that you'll have to wait longer before entering or exiting a room. Sliding doors are best for homes with small floor plans because they don’t take up much space and can be installed on the exterior of the house instead of inside it. Sliding doors are cheaper and lighter than bi-fold doors. They are also more difficult to install, but they take up less space.

The sliding door is a door with one frame that slides open and closed on a track in a groove. These doors can be opened or closed by pulling the panel sideways. They can also be opened from the top and bottom to make it easier to clean the floor space below and above the door.

The bi-fold door is a door with two panels that fold up like an accordion when they are not in use. They work best for areas where there is enough room for them to open up fully without hitting anything on either side of the doorway, such as hallways or large spaces.

What doors are most secure?

Choosing the most secure doors is not an easy process. There are a lot of options to choose from and the decision should be made based on your specific needs. Homeowners are becoming more and more concerned about their security. One of the most important things that a homeowner can do to ensure that their property is secure is to have a secure point of entry and install locks on all doors and windows.

Doors can be broken down into three areas: the frame, the lock, and the hardware. The frame is what holds your door together and can be made of steel, aluminium or fibreglass. A secure lock should be a lockset with heavy-duty metal plates. The hardware should have a deadbolt at a minimum and some doors will also include other types of locks like push bolts or surface bolts. There are many factors that contribute to the security of a door. For example, if someone has malicious intentions and tries to break in through the window, there is not much the door can do. On the other hand, there are doors that have an alarm system installed such that if someone tries to break in through it then the alarm goes off and alerts people inside. There are also doors with locks that can be opened with a key or by scanning an ID card. The most secure doors would be those which have all three of these features - alarm systems, locks, and keys.

The most important factor in picking the most secure door is your budget. The trade-off is that a more expensive door will likely be more secure. So based on your budget, you have to decide how much security you want for your home.

There are many different types of doors that provide varying levels of security. There is no one way to measure which door offers the most security because it really depends on your individual needs.

Composite Doors

What is a composite door?
Essentially, a composite door is made from multiple materials – not just uPVC or wood – which means that they offer the best properties of all the components that go into them. If you are replacing your external doors or want something for an extension, then there are few better choices you could make.
How can I look after composite doors?
Like our uPVC doors and windows, the composite doors in the Palladio collection are built to last. As such, they require very little maintenance. With various different colour finishes available, you will not need to paint your door to keep it looking good. Even if you have a south-facing aspect and your door is exposed to bright sunshine for most of the day, it will not fade unnecessarily. However, if you want to paint your composite door in the future to give it a different colour, then there is nothing to stop you. Just wipe your door over from time to time to prevent the build-up of grime from splashes. That's all you need to do!
